About The Owner

As an only child growing up in a rural community, (Bandera, Texas, the Cowboy Capitol of the World to be exact)--I had a lot of alone time on my hands. I filled it by pursuing personal interests…drawing, reading, creating "culinary concoctions" that only I would eat! Who would have thought that drawing lessons, a thirst for information and 4-H Food and Nutrition classes and Bake Shows would later shape my life’s work?

Never would I have imagined that I’d be a cake designer. I envisioned myself somewhere in the corporate world "moving and shaking." I graduated from St. Mary’s University (BBA-Finance/Risk Management) in 1991 and promptly realized that I could never be tied to a desk! (I cannot balance my checkbook to this day!) My artistic side would not be squelched!

I signed up for the beginner class in the Wilton Method of cake decoration as a "mental diversion." It was something to do while I figured out in which direction I was heading. I had so much fun! Edible Art! I had found my "nirvana!" I signed up for the intermediate class and the teacher didn’t show up! Needless to say after a 40 mile drive I was a little hacked off! "I can do this!" I decided.

An ad in the local newspaper and word of mouth brought me more work than I could handle. If I didn’t know how to do a certain technique, I would quickly read up on it and teach myself. I never told a customer that I couldn’t do what they asked of me. I simply found a way. I am a little more forthcoming about my limitations these days! However, I still do my best to create just what my clients are looking for. This attitude is very much a part of my unique style.

Once I tried to figure out about how many people (based on numbers of servings) I have fed in my career and I came up with a rough estimate of almost 100,000! I surprised myself at how much cake I have produced in a relatively short period of time! Incredible!

After almost 14 years and hundreds of cakes later, I am still creating and concocting and I couldn’t be happier! I bet the world of finance doesn’t even miss me!

I found the following somewhere and I just love it, other than the teachings of the scriptures, it really gets to the meat of the way we should focus our lives:
